Hello there fellow being!
Chances are you have heard about Gut health and fermentation catching up as a hot topic. There is a lot that is not known to the average being and there is a lot to get accustomed to.
So what is Gut health and why should you care?
The Gut is the part of you responsible for converting what you eat into, well you. It starts off at the tongue and goes all along the life of the food consumed while it is within you. All the way to the exit, if you know what I mean.It is the way that this foreign food behaves within you that decides whether the body gains something good or bad from this interaction. A simple process that we go through each day decides whether we get healthy or sick!
The way each food reacts within you depends on the makeup of your insides. The Microbes.
The gut consist of trillions of bacteria, yeast and fungi that line its walls and work tirelessly to break down the food particles into simple sugars, sugars that work as fuel for our blood cells. If the breakdown mechanism fails for some reason, the molecules of food have a bad reaction with our own cells, leading to digestion issues. These issues start off small, with some groin pains, bloating and so. But can lead to bigger things - such as diabetes, inflammation and much worse.
So how do we sense whether we are on the right track or not?
Well, just listen to your body more. Easier said than done right? How can I listen to something that is so complex?
The good news is, the gut influences everything about our body.
It is the second brain. What we eat influences our mood, our sleep, our memory, just about everything. Scratch that. it is actually how our gut handles the food we eat that influences everything about us.
So first and foremost, let's focus on getting that gut stronger. Empower it with good microbes, so that the bad ones cannot survive. Once we have a strong gut, we can worry a little less about how each food reacts.
The gut microbes feed upon fibre rich foods. They get stronger when we have a regular intake of fibre and probiotics (good microbes).
Fermented foods carry a host of these good guys that help breakdown foods faster. They increase the nutrient-absorbing ability of our system. All this while removing digestion issues, and reducing the risk of future ailments. Hidden ailments that we never see coming.
So dive into the world of fermented foods. Get conscious of what we feed ourselves. What we feed our gut fellas.
So we can depend less on medicines and more on our gut feeling.
