Signs of Poor Gut Health

What does being Fit mean for you?

The first thing we ask anyone when we discuss Gut Health is their idea of Fitness. What does being fit mean for you? This is important because unless we have clarity on what it looks to be healthy for us, we cannot imagine it to be achievable.
Health and Fitness can look different for different people. The holistic view of Health focuses on being agile, free of diseases and being able - able to perform the daily do's and still be a happy fellow. Happiness might be the ultimate meaning of health.

Happiness comes only when our whole system is working efficiently.

Your body is in constant contact with its surroundings – actively communicating with the microbes in the air, in the soil, present on foods we eat and the things we see.
All our senses play an active role in training our immune system and equipping us with the right tools to fight off infections. I like to look at this body as a well-oiled machine.
The more we train and equip ourselves, the easier it gets to stay healthy, live better & prolong that wellness. Each and every part of this complex body demands attention, love and care.

When all the parts are in tune, we get a smooth flowing, well-oiled machine.

Our Gut health plays a very important role in this smooth operator’s flow regime.
Be it our eyesight, our respiratory track, our digestion or our mental health, the Gut has a direct channel of communication. Symptoms are how our gut tries to tell us what is off –so we can fix that one area and bring back the overall health back up – back to being top notch.

Listening in to our body can be our cheatcode to staying healthy, for longer.

Symptoms are how our gut tries to tell us what is off – so we can fix that one area and bring back the overall health back up – back to being top notch.

Most of us end up dealing with these symptoms with medication that subsides the pain and discomfort.

Here’s the rundown of some common signs of poor gut health

  1. Food Intolerances
  2. Inflammation & Joint Pains
  3. Bloating
  4. Blocked Airways
  5. Anxiety & Depression
  6. Diarrhea
  7. Constipation
  8. Frequent Gas
  9. Constant Fatigue
  10. Lack of Quality Sleep

A balanced Gut can handle most food groups, in appropriate portions. Intolerances and allergies stem from an unbalanced good to bad bacteria ratio, causing pains, feelings of bloating and other signs of poor digestive health.

Our gut is also responsible for the production of vital hormones that affect our mood & performance. Serotonin & Dopamine, the mood hormones are majorly produced in the Gut. Poor gut health can trigger depression & anxiety, while chronic stress can influence our digestion & hamper the gut microbiome balance.

The Gut-Brain axis, called the Vagus Nerve, forms a direct channel of information that constantly influences our mood & also our digestive powers.

Just like our muscles after just a few months of hitting the gym, our gut microbiome also changes progressively with the repetition of a few good gut practices. Incorporating a few daily good practices for improving our Gut Health can compound and reduce these symptoms.

Some of these include sleep hygiene, exercise, daily breathwork, meditation, choosing foods that improve gut diversity and many more.

The idea is so start with something you can do daily, so the results compound.
